Astronaut and first man on the moon Neil Armstrong makes pizza circa 1969.

This is cool, but he better have served that “astronaut ice cream” as dessert.

White Bread
It’s been so long since I baked bread. This picture is from at least a month ago. I’ve been slacking. In fact, with final papers I don’t really even have time to post the recipe for the bread. But here is a nice picture anyway.

By the way, it is very easy to bake bread. Summer vacation is coming up, so you should have time—if you’re willing to have the oven on to bake things in the heat.

Roux the Day Goes to Baton Rouge
And eats some crawfish etoufee.

This was at a restaurant called The Chimes near the LSU campus and boy was it good. I actually went there two days in a row (catfish po’boy on day two) during the conference. I recommend it! Also, I tried this raspberry infused beer there called Purple Haze, it was rather tasty but not something I usually would have ordered based on a description. Fortunately I often order beers based on their names.

Beer-Cheddar-Mustard Pull-Apart Bread
Or, how to win friends and influence people.
I didn’t take pictures of the steps of this recipe because Smitten Kitchen has much prettier pictures and I wasn’t sure this would work in the first place.
But this is what I ended up with:

AND IT WAS DELICIOUS. Okay, I didn’t bake it long enough this time, so it was kind of difficult to pull apart, but I made it again for a meeting of my poetics class and great joy was had by all.
I wouldn’t call this a beginner’s recipe, exactly. I feel that way about all bread with yeast, because you’re kind of caring for a living thing throughout the preparation process.
Anyway, if you’re okay with your counter getting covered with flour (the Smitten Kitchen pictures are much…cleaner…than any experience I’ve had while baking bread) and know how to keep yeast alive, MAKE THIS. Share it with people. Control their minds.

Batman cereal prizes circa 1966 :: scanned from Chip Kidd’s Batman Collected :: Little, Brown & Company :: 1996
Why can’t I have a Batman periscope in my cereal??? Oh yeah, because I get generic honey nut cheerios in a bag.

Put ice cream on everything! For a second I thought the one in the bottom right-hand corner was on bread. But I was down with that.
